MyPass wins AFR Most Innovative Company Award

MyPass Global was recognised as one of Australia and New Zealand’s Most Innovative Companies with a first-place award in the Agriculture, Mining and Utilities category. The prestigious list, published annually by The Australian Financial Review and Boss Magazine, is judged by Australia’s leading innovation consultancy, Inventium, and a panel of industry experts.

The judging criteria assessed how well the innovation solves a specific problem, the quality and uniqueness of the solution, and the level of impact that the innovation has had. Inventium also assessed internal elements such as innovation culture, strategy, resources and process, which demonstrate a sustainable and repeatable approach to innovation.

“At MyPass we’re continually trying to learn, improve and remain curious. To be recognised as one of Australia’s most innovative companies by the AFR is a fantastic result for the whole team.” – Matt Smith, Founder and CEO of MyPass Global

Innovation at the Core of MyPass

MyPass is striving to be the global ‘industry standard’ system of record for workforce compliance management in highly regulated sectors. There is strong domestic and international momentum for our cloud-based software, led by a shift towards collaboration and data sharing for the betterment of industry.

Through a bottom-up approach to records management, MyPass is fundamentally changing the worker data ownership model. Workers are empowered to manage their own training and competency data and companies are connected to real-time safety and compliance information. This worker-owned data approach reduces the costs and inefficiencies associated with data duplication across industries. It provides companies with improved risk management through independently verified qualifications, licences and tickets, all captured on the MyPass platform.

A Protected Company Culture

Since inception, innovation and entrepreneurial spirit has been woven into the DNA of MyPass’ company culture. MyPass employs a dedicated People & Culture Lead, Harry Morton, whose role is to encourage curiosity and nurture a safe space where ideas are supported and employees are empowered to try different approaches.

Responding to the Pandemic with Innovation

COVID-19 is forcing entire industries to rapidly adapt their operational infrastructure and service offering. As a value-driven technology company, MyPass chose to respond by adapting the platform to cater to the needs of our clients, users and key Australian sectors. Within one week, we pivoted our technology and released the COVID-19 functionality based on the existing business model.

“When I look at the wide-ranging ideas and achievements represented in the Australian Financial Review’s 2020 list, I’m inspired by the level of innovation and entrepreneurship in Australia and New Zealand today. The tech sector has a key role to play in helping to drive Australia and New Zealand’s economic recovery, in particular, the creation of more jobs. We aspire to be one of the companies helping to rebuild the economy.” – Matt Smith
